A new, state-of-the-art trolley has hit the road in Coral Gables.
The vehicle has an automated wheelchair ramp and an integrated “kneeling” system, which lowers the front suspension for easier passenger entry and exit.
The new trolley No. 17, which cost approximately $400,000, was purchased entirely with funds from a federal grant under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
Replacing another vehicle from the city’s aging fleet, the new trolley began service Monday, July 16, providing transportation for residents and commuters along Ponce de Leon Boulevard from the Douglas Road Metrorail Station to Flagler Street.
