During the first two months of 2013, candidates for Coral Gables City Commission raised $194,040 for their campaigns, bringing their fundraising totals to $528,141, according to documents filed Friday, March 8, at the City Clerk’s office.
Coral Gables residents will choose among 10 candidates when they go to the polls on April 9 to elect a mayor and fill two City Commission seats.
In the mayor’s race, City Commissioner Ralph Cabrera received $41,600 in campaign donations between Jan. 1 and March 1 for a total of $80,690, according to his latest campaign treasurer’s report. Elected to the commission in 2001, Mr. Cabrera cannot seek re-election under the city’s term-limits ordinance.
Mayor Jim Cason, seeking a second two-year term, has now raised $118,730 since filing for re-election in March 2012. That total includes $47,680 that came in between Jan. 1 and March 1, according to his latest treasurer’s report.
