The alumni women of the Catholic school run by French Dominican nuns in Havana, which was eventually closed by the 1959 Cuban Revolution, are hosting their annual reunion on Sunday in Coral Gables.

More than 100 alumni of the organization, known as Veritas, will gather at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Coral Gables for a luncheon and 11 a.m. Mass.

In exile, the women who attended the school in Cuba as young girls continued their humanitarian work and community service in the name of the sisters who taught them at Colegio Dominicas Francesas.

As Fidel Castro’s government took hold, the sisters were expelled from the island, along with other nuns and priests.

In Miami, the sisters are affiliated with the Congregation of the French-Cuban Dominican Sisters of the Holy Rosa at 7920 SW 23rd St. in Miami.
